Countries are designed to represent every continent and every form of government. There are large-scale states as well as small-scale states. There are mature democracies, religious autocracies; states that have existed for thousands of years and have changed their names, and those that were founded as recently as the 20th century. All of these countries make up two-thirds of the world’s population. How do writers and citizens in different countries of the world view their own history? What fundamental events and influences have shaped their perspectives? How accurate are the views of foreign commentators? For example, in the United States, the nation is thought to be “without history.” But in China, history is described as having three thousand years of imperial authority. In countries such as Australia, Russia, and Japan, they are known as old countries. Again, countries such as Iran and Egypt are countries with very old histories. Developments in these areas are explained in this book.
